In a match that proved numbers aren’t everything, Ludlow only had 10 players available for the mid table clash. Ludlow’s ten men put in a gutsy display against Old Hales, only to fall to a 68th-minute short corner goal. Despite being a man down for the entire game, Ludlow matched their opponents stride for stride, delivering a performance full of skill, and determination.
The game started with Ludlow defying the odds. Simon Vickers showed his positional brilliance early on, popping up in just the right place to slot home Ludlow’s first goal and set the tone for a close contest. Old Hales responded, but Jake Watts was having none of it. A well placed flick from a short corner saw him restore the balance, before adding another to keep the scores level in a back-and-forth battle.
Ludlows defence made up of Alex Robinson, James Vickers, and Adam Aspbury showed composure under pressure making it hard work for Old Hales attacks. Meanwhile, Jonny Tilt was making things difficult for the oppositions defence with a standout performance.
With the clock ticking down it looked as if Ludlow might hold on for a draw. But in the 68th minute, Old Hales converted a short corner to snatch victory.
Despite the result, the well-spirited game showed the perseverance of the Ludlow team.
Half time Haribo (Tangfastic) as always, was sponsored by the Aston family.
Next week Ludlow are away to City of Birmingham where they hope to take at least 11 players…
